ORIGIN STORY
How Paws & Pixels came to be
I’ve always believed that art has the power to tell stories that photos sometimes can’t—especially when it comes to our pets.
As a traditional acrylic portrait artist, I’ve spent years painting both people and animals, carefully capturing expressions, personalities, and those little quirks that make someone truly unique. But the truth is, hand-painted portraits take a lot of time, and they come with a price tag that’s just not within reach for everyone.
I’ve met so many wonderful pet owners who would love a portrait of their furry companion, but simply couldn’t afford the cost of a full painting. And while I would love to create one for every single person, I also can’t compromise the time, materials, and value of my craft.
Then, something shifted
One of our own dogs—part of our big, beautiful chaos of three dogs, two cats, 3 parakeets, and a few fish, was diagnosed with cancer. We had photos, of course, but I found myself wanting more. I wanted something that expressed his soul. His goofy grins. His gentle presence. His story.
That was the moment
Paws & Pixels was born.
I set out to create a way to make pet portraits that were still personal, still filled with character and care…but more accessible. Digital art became that bridge. Now, I can offer clients custom, high-quality portraits they can download, print, and use however they like; from framed canvas prints to mugs and pillows that brighten up a home.
Every piece I create comes from a place of love
for animals, for art, and for the connection between them.
Because I know what it feels like to want to hold onto your pet’s essence just a little longer. And now, I get to help others do the same.
